About St. Thomas Aquinas Parish

Welcome to St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, a vibrant faith community in the heart of Indianola. Our parish, under the guidance of House of Faith Open Bible, serves as a welcoming place where individuals grow in their faith and discern their own unique vocations.

Understanding Holy Orders

In the Catholic Church, Holy Orders is a sacrament through which men are ordained as deacons, priests, or bishops. At St. Thomas Aquinas, we believe in the sacred calling to serve God's people through Holy Orders. Through this sacrament, ordained individuals are given the authority to preach the Gospel, administer the sacraments, and provide pastoral care to the community.

The Role of Deacons

Deacons play a vital role in our parish community. They assist during Mass, proclaim the Gospel, and serve those in need. Deacons are ordained ministers who embody strong faith and dedicate themselves to acts of service and charity. They are important conduits of God's love and grace within the community.

The Power of Priests

Priests are central to the life of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. They lead the congregation in worship, celebrate Mass, hear confessions, and offer spiritual guidance. Through their ordination, priests are entrusted with the care of souls, visiting the sick, counseling the troubled, and providing support during life's challenging moments.

The Office of Bishops

The office of bishops holds the highest rank among the ordained ministers. Bishops are responsible for the oversight and guidance of multiple parishes within a diocese. They ordain new priests, confirm individuals, and provide pastoral leadership. Their role as shepherds is essential in preserving the teachings and traditions of the Church.

Discerning a Vocation

At St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, we believe that each individual is called by God to a unique vocation. Whether it be marriage, consecrated religious life, or ordained ministry, discerning one's vocation requires listening to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and seeking guidance from a supportive community of faith.

House of Faith Open Bible is committed to fostering an inclusive community where individuals can explore their callings and discern their vocations without judgment or prejudice. We offer various resources, spiritual direction, and discernment retreats to support individuals in their journey.
